Baptism
Baptism is “full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body the Church” (The Book of Common Prayer, 298). Holy Baptism is appropriately celebrated during the Sunday service as a public rite whereby we become members of Christ’s body, the Church.
Baptism is especially appropriate at the Easter Vigil, the Day of Pentecost, All Saint’s Day, and the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (the First Sunday after the Epiphany). Contact the church office (919-942-3108 or admin@holyfamilychapelhill.org) to ask about specific dates and times. Both adults and children may be baptized.
In order to help you prepare for the sacrament of baptism, please know that you are required to attend a baptismal instruction class with one of our clergy. Please keep this schedule in mind as you plan your baptism or that of your child, allowing time to attend the class. If you are interested in baptism, please do the following:
- Call and speak with our Parish Administrator to help determine the next available date.
- Make sure you receive a baptism form from the Parish Administrator. This form enables us to prepare the appropriate certificate for the baptized and the godparent(s). Please make sure you return the form to the office as soon as it is complete.
- The Parish Administrator will then connect you to one of our clergy for baptismal instruction. Baptismal instruction must be completed prior to the date of the baptism (preferably at least one week in advance).
If you have further questions about this process, please contact the Parish Administrator or one of the clergy at the church office.
